Potted Piranha Plant
The Potted Piranha Plant is an item introduced in Mario Kart 8. It takes the form of a standard Piranha Plant but with an arch in its back, giving it a intimidating lurking position. Instead of this plant being in a casual Warp Pipe, it rests in a clay garden pot with 2 wheels that resemble that of which the posessing playing is using for their vehicle.
Chain Chomp Piranha[]
The Potted Piranha Plant item is more of a replacement of the Chain Chomp item that has appeared in previous installments of the series. This item does not drag you along like the Chain Chomp, but as you drive the course, any opponent or obstacle in your way will be chomped by the Potted Piranha Plant, destroying the obstacle and flipping over the opponent. Whenever the Potted Piranha Plant lunges for a target, it will deplete its energy, however, you will be given a boost for this small feat.
MK8 Testing Facility[]
Nintendo released videos all about the new items in Mario Kart 8 in the theme of a testing facility. These videos, of course, were called the "Mario Kart 8 Testing Facility." This here is the video they released for the Potted Piranha Plant.
